What did life before Mangrove involve?
- A First Class Biotechnology degree from Leeds University and management roles in Unilever and Boots. My last role client side was Marketing Manager for a £50m skincare brand, being responsible for communications and multiple new product introductions across Europe.
Why do I work at Mangrove?
- After 10 years in multinationals, Mangrove delivers everything they would like to, but cannot - flexibility, responsiveness, autonomy, variety and the personal touch. Both sides of my brain get a thorough workout and everyday is a school day. Without the dinners.
What kind of things do I enjoy getting involved with?
- Anything that requires a blend of scientific logic, creativity and corporate reality. I use the detail to understand the broad picture and like developing what I call elegant solutions to problems - ones that take you rather by surprise but that have a flawless simplicity to them in retrospect.
What has been my favourite Mangrove challenge?
- The strategic repositioning for a market leading smoking cessation brand. We developed a map of the market that opened many doors for the brand and gave the brand team a strong strategy and rational with which to talk to senior management.
What do I still want to achieve?
- I have an ongoing relationship with a television production company and would love to get a broadcaster to commission a series based on our ideas.
What else keeps me busy?
- A love of adventure sports, in all forms, as well as a family of four children, a cat and a rabbit means there is rarely a dull moment in our house.
